Functions of the Research Services Office.

  1. Maintain database for all research data, outputs and findings and other vital institution data and accomplishment through an established databank system on retrieval, analyses, recording, processing and outreach programs
  2. Develop and implement research capability enhancement trainings and activities for faculty members, staff and students, researchers, technologists and other target clienteles.  
  3. Serve as the dynamic conduit in the dissemination, publication, commercialization and protection of research outputs and/or findings.
  4. Complement with the extension services of the University in facilitating the transfer of technologies, utilization and commercialization of research outputs and/or findings for the improvement of the living conditions of the target beneficiaries especially the less privileged sectors of the community and for the enhancement of productivity of business sectors.  
  5. Facilitate the establishment and ensure sustainability of dynamic, developmental and progressive partnership or linkages on research – related undertakings between the University and the government agencies, industry sectors, non-government organizations and other private entities.
  6. Undertake the research components of the Development Plan of the University in accordance with the development agenda of the national government higher education, science and technology and agriculture.
  • Head of Research Development Unit (RDU)

    1. Assist the RSO Director and coordinate with the Research Coordinators of colleges in the preparation, evaluation, implementation, monitoring and reporting of research programs, projects, studies and other research related activities;
    2.  Assist the RSO Director in the preparation or revision of research development plans, thrusts, programs, projects, and activities; 
    3. Assist the RSO Director in initiating, and organizing research capability building training – workshops, conferences, professional fora, and colloquia;
    4. Assist the RSO Director in developing or establishing database on research programs, projects, studies and activities; 
    5. Assist the College Research Coordinators in the conduct of research mentoring, and consultations with the faculty members and researchers; and
    6. Discharge such other related responsibilities as the RSO Director, VP-PREPS or University President may authorize.
  • Head of Technology Licensing and Commercialization Unit

    1. Assist the research proponent/s in the preparation of proposal of research output/s or finding/s for commercialization and product development; 
    2. Assist the office concerned in the preparation of feasibility studies for external support to help actualize the priority development projects of the University;
    3. Assist the RSO Director in initiating, establishing and sustaining dynamic, developmental and progressive partnership with government agencies, research and development institutions, and NGOs to mobilize resources and generate funds for R&D programs, projects and activities of the University; 
    4. Assist the RSO Director in developing or establishing database on commercialization or product development, and resource mobilization of research outputs/findings;
    5. Assist the faculty members and researchers in the application for intellectual property rights of generated research technologies and other research results; and 
    6. Discharge such other related responsibilities as the RSO Director, VP – PREPS or University President may authorize.
  • Chair of Research Units of the Different Colleges

    1. Facilitate the preparation of concept paper/s and research proposal/s; 
    2. Initiate/organize research professional fora, in-house trainings and colloquia in their respective colleges;
    3. Assist in the formulation of research priorities, programs, projects and activities in their respective colleges; 
    4. Assist the faculty member – researchers in the preparation of forms, progress / accomplishments reports;
    5. Initiate research enhancement activities and other intellectual interactions between or among faculty members and researchers such as mentoring, and consultations; and 
    6. Discharge such other related responsibilities as the RSO Director, VP – PREPS or University President may authorize.
  • Research Administrative Staff (Research Assistants, Statisticians and Administrative Aides)

    1. Prepare office communications and correspondences and data on research related programs, projects, and activities of the University; 
    2. Provide administrative services to research related programs, projects and activities of the office;
    3. Assist in maintaining a functional record system of the office;
    4. Assist the research in data gathering, analyzing, and interpreting of research results; 
    5. Assist in the publication, dissemination and utilization of research results/findings;
    6. Assist the RSO Director, and Heads of RDU and TLCU in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities; and
    7. Discharge such other related responsibilities as the RSO Director, VP-PREPS or University President may authorize.
