BiPSU officially receives PQA Level II recognition, holds ways forward and insights session

Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) was officially acknowledged as a recipient of the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Level II recognition by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through DTI Regional Office 8 Director Engr. Celerina T. Bato, CESO III. The conferment ceremony took place at the university gymnasium on March 15.

The event witnessed the presence of various dignitaries including Artemio T. Almazan III, PQA Regional Office 8 Focal Person, Faustino V. Gayas, Jr., DTI Biliran Provincial Director, Ronelo G. Jamin, PQA Provincial Focal Person, Jan Paulo Vega from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office 8, Ms. Ma. Christina G. Aquino, PQA Senior Assessor, alongside university officials, students, faculty, and non-teaching personnel.

In his welcome message, President Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. shared that this achievement was a collective effort of the entire BiPSU community, saying, “Our success in reaching this milestone exemplifies the collective efforts of our administration, faculty, staff, students, and importantly, the BiPSU PQA core teams.”

The ceremony also honored the PQA Champions and their teams across seven categories. These include individuals such as Ms. Jenny A. Genoguin for Leadership (Category 1), Mr. Joedel O. Peñaranda and Engr. Jessie Mari D. Cerera for Strategy (Category 2), Mr. Ralph Arvic T. Arcenal for Customers (Category 3), Engr. Paul Matthew S. Bentor for Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management (Category 4), Dr. Concepcion M. Gayrama for Workforce (Category 5), Mr. Carlito C. Cabas, Jr. for Operations (Category 6), and President Cañezo for Results (Category 7).

In her address, Engr. Bato encouraged BiPSU to aim for excellence and strive for the highest recognition in quality achievement, saying, "I hope that you will further challenge yourselves and reach greater heights as an organization and aspire for the highest level of excellence which is the Level IV of the Philippine Quality Award."

"So china-challenge ko po ngayon si President [Cañezo] sa Level IV," she added.

Following the ceremony, an afternoon session led by Ms. Aquino was held at the BiPSU Hyflex and Audio-Visual Center (HAVC), focusing on post-PQA recognition strategies and insights.

The PQA Level II recognition marks a significant milestone for BiPSU, positioning it among the institutions in the region. Alongside BiPSU, three other State University Colleges (SUCs) – Visayas State University (VSU), Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), and Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) – also attained this recognition.
