Six students and three instructors from Biliran Province State University- Department of Communication (DepComm) joined the recently concluded 20th ABS-CBN Pinoy Media Congress held at the University of Makati (UMak) from April 24-25.
The said event, an annual conference of the ABS-CBN and the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE), aims to equip communication students and media practitioners with skills and knowledge in the field of media and communication.
Meanwhile, the first day of the event featured a series of lectures and discussions from distinguished media experts and practitioners. Among the roster of speakers were 'It's Showtime' host Amy Perez and TV and Radio Host Winnie Cordero, who shared their insights and experiences to the attendees on how to thrive in a career of media and communication.
Further, on the second day of the event, the morning session featured speakers and experts in preservation and restoration of films, digital innovations, and public relations media. The set of speakers were Leo Katigbak, head of ABS-CBN Film Restoration and Archives; Jolly Estaris, head of iWant and ABS-CBN Integrated Digital Sales; Kane Errol Choa, head of ABS-CBN Integrated Corporate Communication; and Rowena Capulong, vice president for Corporate Affairs of Far Eastern University (FEU).
In the afternoon session, the topics discussed focused on education through children's programs, directing and producing television shows and programs, and TV hosting. Presenters of the said topics were Danie Sedilla-Cruz, Platforms and Partnerships head of Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc., Erick Salud, Business Unit Head of Dreamscape Entertainment, and Actress and TV Host Melai Cantiveros-Francisco.
In addition, ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak, Chair Mark Lopez, and Chief Operating Officer Cory Vidanes, also graced the said event.
Among the delegates from BiPSU were Julianne Kate Cañega, Trisha Marie Ibañez, Christine Gacutno, Jasten Arrogante, Cedric Andaya, and Miguel Corpin, accompanied by DepComm’s Chairperson and PACE Board of Trustee Dr. John Cavin Sabonsolin, Vincent Justine Realino, Research coordinator; and ark Andrew Gonzales, Extension coordinator.
