Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) recently conducted a comprehensive benchmarking activity at the Visayas State University (VSU) International Affairs and Relations Office (IARO) in Baybay City, Leyte on April 06, 2026. The initiative was designed to identify, evaluate, and adopt best practices in internationalization, with a focus on developing global partnerships, implementing academic mobility programs, and improving the admission and monitoring of foreign students.

Through this "weaving of worthiness" in its international programs, BiPSU seeks to ensure high-standard strategies for its global engagement. Dr. Jade Compendio, the Director of VSU IARO, led the discussions, providing professional insights into the office's structure, policies, and governance.

In a statement, University President Prof. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. emphasized that this engagement is a vital step in the university’s pursuit of excellence, noting that learning from established internationalization models allows the institution to better serve its growing community of local and foreign scholars. This benchmarking activity is directly aligned with the WoW BiPSU 2.0 Development Plan and the CHED ACHIEVE Agenda (2025 to 2030), representing a key output of the university's Strategic Performance Commitment's 60-day milestone initiative.

The session covered a wide range of critical topics, including inbound and outbound mobility for faculty and students, internship abroad programs, and cultural immersion. Participants also explored the technical aspects of international admissions, credential evaluation, and Bureau of Immigration (BI) compliance requirements.

Beyond administrative frameworks, the activity addressed the holistic experience of international students by reviewing student services, welfare support, and financial policies. The teams also explored credit transfer and academic recognition systems to ensure seamless educational transitions for mobile students.​
