Biliran Province State University (BIPSU), through the Office of International Affairs, forged a partnership early this year with the International Balkan University (IBU), a private, foundation owned university in North Macedonia. One of the priority programs of the partnership is the academic exchange.

As part of this academic exchange program, BIPSU-School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and IBU- School of Economics and Administrative Sciences and the School of Communications initiated the first virtual lecture exchange via Google Meet.

During the first leg of the faculty exchange program, faculty members of IBU were invited to conduct lectures. Prof. Elena Parnardzieva Stanoevska of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences talked about ‘Risk Management in the Macedonian Banking Sector/Basel Standards’ to the 3rd and 4th year students of the Bachelor of Arts in Economics last June 9. Meanwhile, Prof. Sead Dzigal of the Faculty of Communications, discussed about ‘Propaganda and Disinforamtion in the Western Balkans’ to the 1st and 2nd year students of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

Moreover, faculty members of SAS, including Dr. Annel Ruth Celis, Dr. Roland Niez, and Dr. Jonas Enriquez, will also conduct a series of lectures for IBU students.

The next faculty from IBU to give a lecture to BIPSU students would be from the Faculty of Education (English Language Teaching Dept.), Asst. Prof. Marija Stevkovska. However, the date is yet to be determined.

“IBU is a new but active partner of BIPSU and more engagements with this university are expected to happen this year”, Dr. Maribel N. Zipagan, the director of the Office of International Affairs clarified.
