After its two-day on-site validation visit for COPC Applications and monitoring of Limited Face-to-Face Classes, Student Affairs and Services and Program Offerings last November 3-4, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office VIII, through Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, Regional Director granted the nine (9) programs of Biliran Province State University systems Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC), today.
The nine programs granted with the said certification includedBachelor of Arts in Economics (ABEcon), Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA), Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd), Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED), Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNED), and Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) of both the Main and Biliran campuses.
Headed by the CHEDRO VIII Director Aljibe, the CHED monitoring team was composed of Chief Education Program Specialist, Engr. Socorro Q. Ramos, OIC-Supervising Education Program Specialist, Dr. Leo D. Camposano andEducation Supervisors namely Mr. Narciso C. Candiza, Dr. Catherine O. Iglesias, Dr. Maria Mylah M. Javier, Engr. Nelly L. Labrada, Ms. Jane Arguelles-Latorre, Ms. Erleta S. Piñero, Mr. Cydric B. Suyom, and Sports Coordinator Mr. Rolando O. Duzon, Jr.
In his message, Dr. Aljibe commended the university's accomplishments as well as the president of BiPSU for the realization of its projects and plans.
“I’m amazed with the line up of accomplishments that this university has made through the years,” he said. "Ang BiPSU ay ang pamantasan na nagbibigay ng malaking impact sa ekonomiya, sa kabuhayan ng mga mamamayan dito sa probinsya ng Biliran."
He also mentioned that BiPSU has so far the highest number of programs being granted with COPC among the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) they have visited for validation and monitoring.
According to Mr. Carlito C. Cabas, Jr., Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Office, the university has already a total of 21 COPC granted programs.
Moreover, Dr. Leo Camposano also commended the initiatives and programs of the university relative to the implementation of limited face-to-face classes and the student affairs services.
On the other hand, in his message, University President, Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., expressed his commitment towards excellence and quality in higher education services being one with the Commission on Higher Education.
“I believe that in every endeavor that we do, we are always a step higher in our quest towards excellence and quality. And what drives us is not only our desire but also our determination and unrelenting commitment to excellence- commitment that is not only emphasized in declaration but also is manifested in our actions- for the commitment that we have is not just merely a word, but also an ACTION,” Dr. Canezo said.
