The Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) School of Teacher Education (STEd) officially concluded its pioneering extension project, the "STEd-artsworkshop," with a vibrant culminating activity held at the BiPSU Gymnasium on November 28, 2023.
The event marked the successful completion of the initiative which was launched in March 2023. The project was designed to bolster the artistic prowess of Special Program for the Arts (SPA) students at the Western Biliran High School for the Arts and Culture (WeBHSAC).
Serving as a creative training ground, the workshop provided hands-on sessions and expert mentorship across six key disciplines: Music, Dance, Creative Writing, Visual Arts, Theater, and Media Arts.
The program was developed to further WeBHSAC’s thrust of developing excellence in culture and the arts. Through peer interaction and mentorship from STEd faculty, students were given opportunities to explore both traditional and contemporary art forms, inculcating deeper cultural appreciation and creative confidence.
The culminating activity unfolded as a "weaving of worthiness," transforming the university gymnasium into a showcase of the students' artistic journey. The program featured dynamic performances, art exhibits, staged readings, and media presentations that highlighted the harmonized efforts of the various artistic disciplines.
BiPSU University President Prof. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., EdD, CHRP commended the organizers and participants, emphasizing the university's commitment to cultural development beyond the campus.
"This partnership serves as a testament to BiPSU’s dedication to empowering the youth through the arts. The output we witnessed today is not just a display of talent, but a reflection of the vibrant culture we aim to nurture in Biliran," Pres. Cañezo stated.
During the closing ceremony, students were recognized for their achievements, while faculty mentors were acknowledged for their unwavering support. With the successful conclusion of the STEd-artsworkshop, the STEd aims to leave a lasting impact that will continue to inspire a stronger community of young artists in the province.
